SELF-ADVOCATE INTERVIEWER

CareStar, Inc. is accepting applicants for a Self-Advocate Interviewer. The Self-Advocate Interviewer is responsible for assisting with in-person, face-to-face interviews related to the National Core Indicators Surveys by asking survey questions, taking notes and entering documentation. The Self-Advocate Interviewer enhances survey participation by building rapport with the interviewee, encouraging responses to questions and sharing personal experiences to help the interviewee feel comfortable.

 

THE POSITION

CareStar is looking for a motivated individual who:

  • Adheres to the CareStar Rule in performance of job responsibilities.
  • Understands and complies with CareStar Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality as related to patient information. Any disclosures of confidential information made unlawfully outside the proper course of duty will be treated as a serious disciplinary offense.
  • Assists with in-person, face-to-face interviews for the Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities of the National Core Indicators Survey.
  • Travels to an agreed upon location to assist with interviews to collect survey information per training guidelines.
  • Attends orientation, trainings, and in-services for proper implementation of the survey techniques and processes.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Prior experience in advocating for the developmental disabilities’ community and/or work in the area of self-advocacy. Experience with ID/DD individuals may be work-related or through a personal, familial or friendship connection.
  • Possesses interpersonal skills with respect for others, including, but not limited to, survey respondents, co-workers and other professionals within a diverse work environment.
